Abu Dhabi Streamlines Government Transactions with Artificial Intelligence

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi continues to accelerate its digital transformation following the disclosure of preliminary results from employing artificial intelligence technologies to process government transactions, as part of a partnership with OpenAI aimed at developing an administrative system based on smart technologies.

A report published by The National newspaper on Friday, November 6, 2026, revealed that a pilot program conducted by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority has contributed to shortening the processing of complex food import files from several days—sometimes up to a week—to just a few minutes.

The experiment relies on converting thousands of regulatory documents and government procedures into data that smart systems can analyze and compare against customer requests, thereby facilitating file review and determining compliance with requirements.

This step is part of a digital transformation strategy with investments totaling 13 billion dirhams, aiming to build a government that relies extensively on artificial intelligence by 2027, while ensuring that government data is processed within the UAE.

The importance of the project lies in its potential to reduce operational costs, accelerate services, and improve employee efficiency. However, scaling the experiment requires ensuring decision accuracy, protecting sensitive information, and maintaining human oversight of government procedures.
