The case of Professor Rachid Charkab, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and an anesthesiology and intensive care specialist at the Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca, has seen a new judicial development. On Thursday, November 5, 2026, he appeared before the Ain Sebaa Court of First Instance, this time as a plaintiff against the Head of the Intensive Care Department, in a case involving accusations of false denunciation and reporting a crime known to be non-existent.
The details of the complaint stem from a professional dispute regarding the decision to admit a young patient with a physical disability to the intensive care unit. According to the defense team, the Head of the Department argued that the patient's health condition did not warrant admission, while Charkab made a contrary decision despite objections from other physicians.
In his direct complaint, Professor Charkab asserts that the administrative correspondence sent by the Head of the Department regarding the incident contained inaccurate information, arguing that it formed the basis for accusations not supported by the actual facts—claims that remain subject to judicial assessment.
After hearing the parties and the defense arguments, the court decided to reserve the file for deliberation and set the session for November 12 to deliver the verdict.
This development comes at a time when Charkab is facing a separate legal process, following a primary court ruling sentencing him to one year in prison in a case related to defamation and impersonation, a verdict that is still pending before the appellate court.
The Casablanca Court of Appeal had rejected, on Monday, November 2, his request for provisional release and decided to postpone the hearing of his case to November 16.
