Flight Disruptions Impact Travel to Saudi Arabia

UAE airlines continue to adjust their flight schedules to several Saudi airports against the backdrop of security unrest in the region.

UAE airlines continue to adjust their flight schedules to several Saudi airports against the backdrop of security unrest in the region over the past few weeks, at a time when some airlines have begun to gradually resume operations.

Etihad Airways announced the resumption of four flights between Abu Dhabi and Jeddah starting Friday, November 6, 2026, bearing flight numbers EY601, EY602, EY603, and EY604, while extending the cancellation of its flights to Riyadh and Dammam until November 19.

As for flydubai, it confirmed the continued cancellation of its flights to Abha and Riyadh until November 16, with the expectation of further adjustments depending on operational and security developments.

These measures follow attacks that targeted Saudi facilities and airports, affecting the regularity of air traffic, which prompted airlines to re-evaluate routes and schedules while prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.

The repercussions of these disruptions extend beyond airlines, impacting travelers for business, tourism, and family visits, as well as the service sector linked to air transport between the two countries.

Despite the return of some flights, the continued suspension on other routes underscores that the restoration of normal air traffic will remain contingent upon stable security conditions and the lifting of operational restrictions.

The airlines have urged passengers to check the status of their flights via official websites before heading to the airports, given the possibility of schedule changes on short notice.
