Dubai Police have announced the closure of 33 unlicensed nurseries and the arrest of 34 individuals suspected of operating them, in a security operation targeting childcare facilities operating outside legal frameworks and lacking essential public health and safety requirements.

The operation followed field investigations conducted by the police in coordination with Dubai Municipality, the Community Development Authority, and the Department of Economy and Tourism, after investigative teams observed residential units being used to host children for low fees without obtaining the necessary licenses.

Authorities explained that some of these facilities targeted low-income families seeking cheaper alternatives to accredited nurseries, despite the sites lacking the necessary equipment to protect children from neglect and health risks.

The case highlights a social issue that goes beyond legal violations, concerning the balance between the cost of childcare services and the financial capacity of families, especially in densely populated areas.

Dubai Police emphasized the necessity of verifying official licenses before enrolling children, warning against being swayed by advertisements offering low-cost services without safety guarantees.

This operation underscores the importance of continuous oversight of childhood institutions, as protecting children is a responsibility that cannot be subjected to profit calculations or cost-cutting measures.
