The Algerian newspapers published on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, followed a range of political, economic, security, and social developments, maintaining their focus on the Sahara file and regional relations, alongside issues concerning the daily lives of Algerian citizens. Below are the highlights covered by these newspapers in today's editions:

- The Sahara returns to the forefront of UN debate: The Algerian daily «Al-Massa» reported that the UN General Assembly is preparing to hold a session on 10 November to discuss the use of the veto in the Security Council regarding two draft resolutions concerning the Sahara. The newspaper considered that the meeting allows for the file to be re-tabled before a broader range of countries, reflecting the Algerian stance on the issue, while the session remains dedicated to discussing the use of the veto rather than issuing a ruling on sovereignty over the territory.

- New statements regarding Morocco and autonomy: The newspaper «Al-Massa» conveyed statements by Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, a Polisario Front official, in which he praised the Russian position in the Security Council, considering that the veto constituted a setback for the Moroccan autonomy proposal. These statements fall within the Front's positions on recent UN developments and do not constitute an international decision on the future of the conflict.

- The IMF addresses the Algerian economy: The Algerian press highlighted an IMF report discussing encouraging indicators in the path of diversifying the Algerian economy, noting the rising contribution of non-oil activities and the importance of investments in the mining, production, infrastructure, and trade sectors, despite continued reliance on hydrocarbons as the primary source of revenue.

- Dismantling of a criminal gang in the capital's suburbs: The newspaper «Le Courrier d'Algérie» revealed a security operation carried out by the police in the Zéralda area during the past week, which resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals suspected of ties to a gang active in assaults and drug trafficking. Seizures included white weapons, 306 psychotropic tablets, and an amount of 887 thousand dinars, while the suspects were referred to the competent judicial authorities.

- Warnings against energy drinks in schools: The newspaper «Al-Massa» addressed the growing consumption of energy drinks among students, conveying medical warnings about the impact of caffeine and stimulants on the health of children and adolescents, particularly sleep disorders, rapid heartbeat, and anxiety. A school health specialist called for enhanced nutritional awareness within educational institutions.

- Expanding the natural gas network in Constantine: The Algerian press revealed that 2914 housing units have been connected to the natural gas network in the province of Constantine since the beginning of the year 2026, as part of developing basic services and improving living conditions for residents, coinciding with safety inspection campaigns within residential complexes in preparation for the winter season.

- Free medical caravans for sick children: The newspaper «Al-Massa» highlighted voluntary initiatives supervised by Algerian medical competencies to help children suffering from cerebral palsy, where about 18 children benefited from specialized surgical operations during a three-day caravan, alongside preparations for a new medical initiative targeting about 500 patients.
