Recent reports from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have demonstrated the strength of the United Arab Emirates' economic trajectory and its ability to maintain a strong growth pace, driven by remarkable expansion in non-oil sectors and increased foreign direct investment flows. Article IV consultations suggest that the superior performance of the non-hydrocarbon sector will continue with growth exceeding 4%, supported by ongoing momentum in tourism, financial services, and logistics, in addition to the acceleration of digital transformation and advanced industries.
This outlook is complemented by a report from credit rating agency Fitch, which documented that the UAE accounts for 61% of total debt instruments and sustainable financing issuances in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This reflects the consolidation of the country's position as a key regional and international hub for green capital and sustainability-linked financing instruments in the post-COP28 era, as well as its commitment to the goals of the 2050 climate neutrality initiative.
Furthermore, data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) reinforced this trend by placing the UAE at the forefront of regional destinations in attracting foreign direct investment and recording record levels of new greenfield project flows. The country benefits from legislative updates allowing 100% foreign ownership and the expansion of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement network with major global markets. This demonstrates the confidence of international financial institutions in the efficiency of monetary and fiscal policies, and in the ability of local markets to transform into a sustainable production engine capable of absorbing global economic fluctuations.
