Tangier Judiciary Rules on the 'Moulinex' and Benchakroun Case

The Criminal Appeals Chamber in Tangier has concluded the Moulinex and Benchakroun case, upholding a six-year prison sentence for Moulinex and reducing the sentence of Adam Benchakroun's mother to five years.

The Criminal Appeals Chamber at the Tangier Court of Appeal concluded, in the early hours of Friday, November 6, 2026, one of the cases that sparked widespread controversy in Moroccan circles and on social media platforms. The court upheld the verdict against the content creator known as "Moulinex," sentencing him to six years in prison, while reducing the sentence of influencer Adam Benchakroun's mother from six years to five years of imprisonment.

The decision followed a judicial process marked by hearings and arguments during which the court examined the details of the case, which involved charges of human trafficking and the exploitation of a minor, among other charges included in the prosecution. The panel had decided to hold the final session in camera, given the sensitivity of the facts presented and their connection to a minor.

The same court had issued its initial verdict last April, sentencing both defendants to six years in prison each, along with a fine of one million dirhams for each defendant, before the case moved to the appellate stage, which concluded by confirming the prison sentence for "Moulinex" and reducing it by one year for Adam Benchakroun's mother.

This case brings back to the forefront the issue of protecting minors from exploitation in the digital space, and the legal responsibility arising from practices that go beyond the boundaries of content creation to infringe upon the rights and dignity of children, in light of the increasing proliferation of social media platforms and their impact on younger generations.
