Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in coordination with the General Headquarters of Dubai Police, has announced the approval of modified legal speed limits established on 5 vital streets across the emirate, with the new changes coming into effect starting November 1, 2026. This decision follows comprehensive field traffic and engineering studies conducted by specialized technical teams, who carried out a precise analysis of daily traffic density rates, heavy vehicle volumes, and the geographical distribution of fast entrances and exits, aiming to raise traffic flow rates and reduce the likelihood of congestion during peak hours.
The studies also included a review of traffic accident records along these corridors to determine the safest speeds in accordance with the best international standards and practices in highway network planning. Field teams have already begun replacing and updating more than 100 informative traffic signs, as well as modifying the configuration of radar devices and automatic speed control systems to begin recording violations in accordance with the new limits coinciding with the implementation date. The Authority emphasized that this update enhances the efficiency of the road network and supports the traffic strategy to achieve a safe mobility environment free from serious accidents.
