Masdar Launches Three Energy Projects in Spain

The United Arab Emirates continues to expand its global footprint in the clean energy sector, as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company ("Masdar") announced on Thursday, in collaboration with Spain's "Endesa", the launch of three new battery energy storage projects in Spain, with investments amounting to 103.6 million dirhams (approximately 25.2 million euros).

The projects aim to enhance the efficiency of solar energy use and the stability of electrical grids, with a total storage capacity of 60.16 MW and an energy capacity reaching 120.34 MWh, through the integration of storage systems into existing solar plants in the regions of Extremadura and Andalusia.

The projects are expected to enter the operational phase by the end of 2027, in a step that reinforces the Emirati-Spanish partnership and supports expansion into sustainable energy solutions.

This investment reflects the growing Emirati presence in European markets through projects that combine economic feasibility with technological innovation, contributing to enhanced energy security and accelerating the transition towards more sustainable sources.
