H.E. Ms. Dilrabo Mansouri, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, stated that the international forum «Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage», hosted by the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship in Dushanbe, represents an important international platform to foster dialogue, exchange experiences, and develop cooperation in the fields of sustainable tourism and cultural heritage protection.

Mansouri stated in an interview with the media outlet «gulftourism.news» that the importance of this forum lies in bringing together a wide range of senior government officials, experts, academics, representatives of international institutions, the tourism sector, entrepreneurs, and investors, which allows for forging new alliances and exchanging successful experiences in tourism development and the preservation of cultural legacy.

She also added that tourism has become one of the priority sectors for the economic and social development of Tajikistan, due to its key role in job creation, supporting local communities, improving the living standards of the population, and promoting the country's tourism and cultural potential.

She explained that the forum acquires special relevance by combining scientific, practical, cultural, and tourism dimensions, addressing issues related to the sustainable development of the sector, the protection of historical and cultural sites, support for popular crafts, the promotion of rural, agricultural, and gastronomic tourism, as well as the boost of medical and health tourism, and the promotion of investment and innovation in the sector.

She pointed out that Tajikistan has exceptional tourist, cultural, and natural potential, which includes a millennia-old history, a rich heritage, a unique mountainous geography, and great cultural diversity, highlighting that the Tajik government pays growing attention to the recovery of national values, the preservation of popular heritage and traditional crafts, directly linking them to tourism development.

Mansouri indicated that the holding of the forum at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship reflects the importance of the role played by academic institutions in training specialized professionals, promoting scientific research and innovation, and connecting education with the needs of the tourism sector and the labor market.

She affirmed that the future of tourism is closely linked to sustainability, noting that the protection of the environment and cultural heritage, the empowerment of local communities, the improvement of services, and the use of modern technologies are fundamental elements to build a competitive and lasting tourism sector.

She added that the forum also represents an opportunity to introduce international participants to Tajikistan's tourism potential, open new horizons for cooperation and investment, and foster the development of joint tourism programs between Tajikistan and participating countries.

Mansouri considered that the combination of tourism, heritage, and culture constitutes one of the most important ways to consolidate Tajikistan's position on the international tourism map, underlining that the country aspires to offer a comprehensive tourism experience that combines nature, history, culture, hospitality, and local products.

The international forum «Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage» is held from October 13 to 18, 2026, and includes scientific conferences, roundtable discussions, exhibitions of heritage and traditional crafts, as well as cultural, gastronomic, and tourism events in various Tajik cities and regions, including Dushanbe, Tursunzoda, Hissor, Nurek, Khujand, and other areas.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that these events reflect Tajikistan's orientation towards expanding international cooperation in tourism matters and transforming the country's cultural and natural potential into sustainable opportunities for economic and social development.
