The King's Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Sidi Kacem announces to the public that: Following the circulation of a video clip across social media platforms showing an individual handcuffed to a tree, subjected to violence, and filmed by certain persons, this Public Prosecution immediately upon detecting the video ordered the opening of a judicial investigation to uncover the circumstances and details of the incident, entrusting it to the Judicial Center of the Royal Gendarmerie in Sidi Kacem.
Preliminary investigations carried out have shown that the content of the aforementioned video dates back to an incident documented on 11/09/2026, within the context of apprehending the victim stealing unharvested agricultural crops—an incident that had previously been the subject of a judicial investigation resulting in a conviction ruling against the victim for theft.
The investigations conducted led to the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in the incident, and they were placed under police custody as required by the investigation.
Upon presenting them before this Public Prosecution on 28/10/2026, and based on the results of the investigations reached, it was decided to prosecute them for the misdemeanors of arresting and detaining a person without an order from competent authorities, intentional assault, threats, violence, and broadcasting and distributing images of a person for the purpose of defamation, and to refer them to the court—one of them in detention and the others released on bail—in order to try them in accordance with the legal guarantees provided.
The Public Prosecution reaffirms its constant commitment to the strict application of the law, and to firmly addressing all acts that infringe upon the physical safety of individuals and their human dignity, while fully respecting the guarantees of a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.
