The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) organized, on Tuesday at the Superior Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane, a joint practical security exercise with German security services, aimed at enhancing cooperation and sharing expertise in managing complex crime scenes.
During this exercise, which was attended by the German Ambassador to Morocco and a number of Moroccan and German security officials, five different security scenarios were simulated, including an armed assault, an explosion caused by an explosive device, the discovery of a radioactive source, the uncovering of a clandestine laboratory, and victim identification.
The exercise aims to test the readiness of security services, develop their technical and operational skills, and strengthen coordination among various stakeholders, thereby contributing to improved speed and effectiveness of intervention in complex situations.
In a press statement, Abderrahmane El Yousfi Al Alaoui, Divisional Police Commander and Head of the Technical and Risk Management Division at the Institute of Forensic Sciences and Evidence, stated that this exercise is part of several cooperation programs between the DGSN and the German police, aimed at testing the technical competencies and expertise of the DGSN in countering any security threats during the organization of major events.
He added that Morocco has acquired extensive experience in organizing major events, including COP 22, the International Conference on Migration, the Interpol General Assembly, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank—major events where the security component was essential to their success.
He pointed out that the exercise evaluated the technical and scientific competencies involved in such events, with security teams demonstrating high levels of competence in decision-making and in organizing human and logistical resources.
He emphasized that this exercise is part of the ongoing cooperation between the DGSN and the German police, which also includes information exchange, training, and the sharing of experiences and expertise, highlighting that the shared goal is to strengthen the security capabilities of both countries in addressing domestic and transnational crime challenges.
For his part, Christian Vidal, Director of the Hanover Institute of Technical and Scientific Police in Germany, explained that this exercise is the fruit of an exceptional commitment between the two countries, cooperation based on mutual respect, shared trust, and great enthusiasm, stressing the necessity of strengthening these exchanges.
He also expressed his appreciation for the high level of cooperation and professional competence he observed among the professionals of the General Directorate of National Security.
