Free Medical Check-ups in Kairouan and Public Services Mobilization Across Tunisia

More than 600 citizens in the Haffouz delegation of Kairouan governorate benefited on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from the services of a multidisciplinary free health caravan organized by health authorities in cooperation with civil society to bring hospital services closer to residents of interior regions. The field interventions included clinics in ophthalmology, cardiovascular diseases, pediatrics, and general medicine, along with ultrasound examinations and the immediate distribution of free medicines to needy patients and the elderly.

This healthcare initiative coincided with a broad mobilization of public services and traffic operations across the country following the start of the first term mid-semester school holiday. This included a swift field intervention by civil protection units in the southern suburbs of the capital to control a sudden fire that broke out inside a train car at the «El Mourouj 3» station on Metro line 6, with no human injuries recorded among passengers. Meanwhile, a technical committee from the Tunis Transport Company (Transtour) launched an administrative and technical investigation to determine the causes of the incident and ensure the safety of the public transport fleet.
