Ambassador Ahmed Nehad Abdel Latif, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Kingdom of Morocco, discussed with Mehdi Tazi Rifi, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Tanger Med Group, at the Group's headquarters in the Tanger Med port, enhancing cooperation in the fields of ports, industrial, and logistic zones.
During the meeting, which was attended by Counselor Moataz Bellah Ali, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Office at the Egyptian Embassy, the Egyptian Ambassador emphasized that this meeting comes within the framework of efforts aimed at strengthening economic relations between Egypt and Morocco. He pointed out that the outcomes of the first session of the Coordination and Follow-up Committee, held in Cairo on April 6 last year under the chairmanship of the prime ministers of both countries, reflected a shared will to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive economic partnership based on increasing trade exchange, encouraging joint investments, supporting industrial integration, and enhancing cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors. He also highlighted Egypt's productive, industrial, and logistical capabilities, as well as the significant leap it has achieved in infrastructure and transport sectors in recent years.
For his part, Mehdi Tazi Rifi reviewed the experience of the Tanger Med port, particularly regarding the integration between the port and its surrounding industrial zones. He also noted its growing role in facilitating trade movement and the flow of goods across various markets since its establishment.
The meeting addressed prospects for cooperation between the Tanger Med system and Egyptian ports, alongside the Suez Canal Authority and the Suez Canal Economic Zone. It was emphasized that supporting links between ports, industrial, and logistical zones in both countries is crucial to bolster their international competitiveness and qualify them to enhance their roles in trade and investment movements, building on their distinguished strategic locations.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance the exchange of expertise in port and industrial zone management and operations, leveraging the transport and logistics networks of both countries. Furthermore, they explored encouraging partnerships between the Egyptian and Moroccan private sectors to create new opportunities for manufacturing, exporting, and investing, and to facilitate the access of Egyptian and Moroccan products to African and European markets.
