Parallel Control Boosts Silicon Quantum Processors

The Quantum Computing Research Center at Japan's Riken Institute announced on October 18, 2026, an architectural innovation that allows directing parallel microwave pulses to control spin qubit arrays trapped in quantum dots within pure silicon wafers.

The results were published in the journal Nature Physics, documenting the resolution of the technical dilemma that prevented increasing the number of qubits on a single chip due to electromagnetic interference and loss of quantum coherence when emitting close operating frequencies.
