Al-Sisi: Water Security is a Red Line

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi affirmed, in a decisive speech during the inauguration of "Cairo Water Week", that any regional or international gamble on Egypt's acceptance of a policy of fait accompli or on undermining its water security is considered a "losing bet".

The President stressed in his remarks that the Nile River represents the pillar of the Egyptian State's strategic existence, explaining that the protection of historical water rights and national security constants constitutes an existential issue that does not allow for concessions or negligence under any circumstances.

In the same context, he highlighted the Egyptian State's firm commitment to supporting comprehensive development paths for all Nile Basin countries, emphasizing that fruitful cooperation must be based on the rules of international law, the principles of good neighborliness, and common interests, in a way that safeguards Egypt's acquired rights and preserves the stability of the entire region.
