The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in coordination with Dubai Municipality and strategic partners across the country, has completed a set of proactive measures to raise the preparedness of infrastructure and drainage systems, activating emergency plans to cope with weather fluctuations 24 hours a day in order to ensure road safety and traffic continuity. Federal preparation works included a comprehensive review of rainwater drainage networks and hydraulic facilities along the highways, fully ensuring the operational efficiency of 17 pumping stations and 800 culverts, in addition to clearing wadi cross-sections and removing sediment and obstacles to guarantee the absorption capacity of torrent flows, supported by an intelligent field monitoring system including cameras and precise sensors to measure water levels in dams, linked to an early warning system and a central operations room for instant response.
At the local level, Dubai Municipality increased its operational field capacity by deploying 675 specialized personnel, preparing 1,100 advanced vehicles and equipment and 200 suction and water transport tankers, while simultaneously activating rapid logistical support agreements with private sector companies. Technical teams completed the cleaning and maintenance of more than 70,000 openings and gullies for rainwater drainage and gravity lines in the emirate's streets, in addition to preparing 10 temporary retention lakes to absorb excess water and relieve hydraulic pressure on the main networks during heavy rainfall. The municipality reinforced its response efficiency by executing 3 scenarios and field simulations to test the deployment speed of teams and the resolution of blockages, in parallel with assigning the toll-free number 800900 and the «WhatsApp» application to receive public notices 24 hours a day in direct coordination with Dubai Police General Headquarters, Civil Defense, and the National Center of Meteorology.
